Closed Rivets
Closed rivets, also known as closed-end rivets or sealed blind rivets, are a strong choice when your assembly needs dependable fastening from one side and added protection against liquid or vapor passing through the installed rivet. They are commonly used in sheet metal fabrication, electronic enclosures, panels, housings, transportation assemblies, and other applications where clean installation, vibration resistance, and retained mandrels matter.
PENCOM’s closed rivets category includes options for different surface and load requirements, including RCA Closed Dome Rivets, RCB Closed Large Dome Rivets, and RCC Closed Countersunk Rivets. Dome head closed rivets are a solid general-purpose option for everyday blind fastening and a smooth finished appearance. Large dome closed rivets provide a wider bearing surface, which can be especially useful on thinner or softer materials where better load distribution helps reduce pull-through risk. Countersunk closed rivets are designed for installations that need a flush, low-profile finish for tighter clearances and cleaner exterior surfaces.
Because these are blind rivets, they install from one side only, making them a practical solution when the back side of the workpiece cannot be reached. Closed-end designs are often specified when engineers want better sealing performance and mandrel retention, especially in assemblies where loose stem fragments, moisture intrusion, or vapor passage could create problems. That makes closed blind rivets a smart fit for equipment housings, control boxes, lighting, appliances, vehicle panels, and similar products that demand a more controlled finished joint.
When selecting the right closed rivet, start with the grip range so it matches the total thickness of the materials being joined. Then choose the head style based on the application: standard dome for versatile fastening, large dome for greater bearing area, or countersunk for a flush finish. Material combination, corrosion requirements, and appearance also play an important role in final part selection.
Beyond supplying rivets, PENCOM supports customers with ISO-certified manufacturing, inventory management programs, and related fastening tools to help keep sourcing and production straightforward.
