Sunnyvale, CA – October 20, 2025

PENCOM proudly returned for the third year in a row to partner with the Vista Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired on Saturday, October 18th to host a special Halloween event for children designed to bring joy, creativity, and accessibility together in a fun, inclusive environment.
The event welcomed children dressed in festive costumes, with Halloween-themed music setting the stage for an evening of hands-on activities and community connection. PENCOM representatives joined Vista Center volunteers to guide children through a variety of engaging stations that combined sensory play with creativity.

One of the highlights was PENCOM’s interactive fastener and hardware station, where children learned about different components through touch and used them to create tactile Halloween pumpkins. Additional stations included:

  • Walking Cane Decorating Station – children personalized free walking canes with fun materials and textures.
  • Spider-Web Design Station – kids used string to create web patterns that encouraged tactile exploration.
  • Cookie Decorating Station – a sweet and imaginative stop for kids to design their own treats.
  • Touch-and-Feel Mystery Box Station – a sensory guessing game full of Halloween surprises.

As the evening came to a close, families participated in a safe, stress-free trick-or-treat walk around the outside of the Vista Center building, where volunteers handed out candy at various doors. The event brought smiles and laughter to children, families, and volunteers in a welcoming, accessible space.
In addition to hands-on support, PENCOM made a financial donation to cover all event costs and to further support Vista Center’s mission of empowering individuals who are blind or visually impaired to live more independent and fulfilling lives.

“I’ve known Vista Center and their work for years,” said Blake Gardiner. “I’m really proud that PENCOM can help and be a part of their mission.”

The collaboration underscores PENCOM’s ongoing commitment to community engagement and empowerment.
