Extrusions
One of the most popular manufacturing methods for heatsinks is an extrusion. To manufacture an extrusion you must use high pressure and temperature and it apply it aluminum with force thru a pre specified mold or die. The result can be milled or machined to produce the final heatsink extrusion. Next the long bars that have been straightened and streched to improve the mechanical properties, the heatsink will be cut into the desired footprint of the actual heatsink. To finalize the process the heatsinks are milled to ensure proper contact area.
