Advantages

Cross cut heatsinks are manufactured as a standard extrusion then it is “cross cut” to provide a type of pin-fin design. An omni-directional configuration that allows ambient air to penetrate and exhaust heat from every direction. This rectangular shape also creates air turbulence that breaks apart stagnant air boundary layers and enhances the heat sinks thermal performance. This type of manufacturing method iis commonly used in BGA’s and DC/DC Converters, although can be used on a variety of applications.
