Clips provide a constant pressure between the package and the heatsink enhancing thermal conductivity. Designing this type of attachment method regulates the force applied to ensure that the equal force is applied to each heatsink also allowing for an easy installation or removal of the heatsink. This type of attachment method is usually used with extruded heatsinks with channels.
